How to register a railML compatible software
railML partners who use railML interfaces in their software are encouraged to register on the website. For those seeking certification of their software, registration is a required first step. This process ensures transparency and facilitates collaboration within the railML community. By registering your railML-compatible software, you contribute to a structured overview of available solutions and help foster better integration in the railway data industry.
Software details
Please submit the following details when registering your software
- Short description of the software tool in English (and in German, if available) that complies with the following formalities:
- approximately 150 words per language;
- bold, italic and underlined text formatiing is allowed.
- Approved logotype of your company as vector file (SVG or EPS).
If your software does not have a specific logo, please submit your company logo instead. - Primary contact person for railML.org at your company. Make sure it is one of the two representatives listed on the Partnership Agreement (See Partnership Register page). Please also create an account at www.railml.org for this main contact person in order to enable a good communication and beneficial cooperation between your company and our governance/schema coordinators. This contact person will be linked to the software details.
- A link to the specific website of your software tool. If no specific webpage is available, please provide a link to your company's website. (Preferably in German or English)
- The software type (crew planning, data conversion, passenger information, rolling stock rostering, simulation, train path construction, etc.)
- The licence type (commercial, academic, internal, freeware)
- Type of the use cases supported by the software, subschemas (Timetable, Infrastructure, Rolling stock, Interlocking) and schema version (1.x, 2.x, 3.x) supported by import / export interface.
- Any customers using your software tool.

The following license types describe the general availability and usage of railML-compatible software. These classifications are for informational purposes and are not officially defined by railML.org documentation. In some cases, a software may fall into multiple categories.
- Commercial – software that is sold or distributed to the public, either as a one-time purchase or through a subscription model.
- Academic – software offered at a discounted price for non-commercial use within educational institutions.
- Internal – software developed for internal company use only and not made available for external sale or distribution.
- Freeware – software provided to the public free of charge, without any payment required.
