First steps: Downloading and using railML®

Welcome to railML®! This guide will walk you through the essential steps to download and start using railML® effectively. Whether you are a newcomer exploring railML® for the first time or looking to integrate it into your project, follow these steps to get started.

Step 1: Register with railML.org

Before you can download and use railML®, you need to register on railML.org. Registration is free and provides several benefits, such as access to railML schema files and documentation, the ability to connect with the railML® community, updates on new releases.

Step 2: Download the railML® schemas

Once you are registered, you can navigate to the Downloads section where you will find our latest railML schemas, example data and documentation. Please do not forget to log in railML.org before downloading them. If you need alpha or beta versions (for development purposes only), contact the railML.org coordinators.

Step 3: Getting started with railML®

Once you have downloaded the schema files, you can begin using railML®. Here are some resources to help you:

  • Explore the railML® Wiki: The railML Wiki is ine of our primary resource for documentation. It includes user and developer guides, instructions on contributing to the wiki and best practices for using railML® effectively.
  • Join the community Forum: Have questions? Need help? The railML Forum is the perfect place to ask for support from experienced users and developers, discuss enhancements and share your experiences with the railML® community. Please read our Forum guidelines before getting to railML Forum.
  • Attend railML® Conferences: Meet industry experts and network with other users at our coferences. These events take place twice a year and provide insights into the latest developments in railML®, implementation case studies and direct discussions with developers and coordinators.
