Dear Thomas^2, Heidrun and Stefan,

thank you for your input and feature request. Indeed, I also see some similarities and synergies with Torben's idea of introducing an "area element". Therefore, I would like to make you aware of the solution proposal documented in Trac ticket #393 [1].

So, what are your specific requirements for this area / track section from your applications point of view: which attributes / child elements do you need?

Do you have any other ideas and comments on the area approach? As usual, any comment from the railML community is highly appreciated...
