Dear all,

during the railML.org coordinators meeting in Paris on November 2nd, 2016 we decided, that railML.org will terminate the support railML® 2.0 and 2.1 schemes on March 10th, 2017. A date for termination of railML® 2.2 support will be discussed with the community during 31st conference in March 2017; but a 2 years pre-signalling time will be granted in any case.
The reasons for our decision are:
- Decreased usage of railML® 2.0 and 2.1 by our registered partners
- To little capacity for support by scheme coordinators of railML.org for all subschemes
- Needed focus for railML® 2.3; 2.x and the development of railML® 3.1 and further versions
- Higher qualtiy for Wiki-documentation and user support (implementation)

Important: Programmes with a railML® 2.0 and 2.1 schemes will remain available (contact your software developer or vendor for more details) and implemented interfaces in the programmes of our railML.org partners will remain available too. So there is no need to hassle for railway undertakings and infrastructure mamangers about their existing software. For any new software and implementations of railML schemes the railML® 2.2 and 2.3 schemes shall be used. There is neither data or modelling loss or additional effort for the software industry by using the newer schemes as they are up- and downward comaptible.

Please contact railML.org for any question regarding this decision.

Also you might take notice about other news from the 30th railML conference or download the presentations.

Best regards,

Vasco
