Dear railML community,

2026-05-08 version 0.65 of railML ontology was published at https://ontology.railML.org. This release marks the important intermediate result on the way to a new baseline of the railway data exchange format railML.

https://ontology.railML.org contains:
* the automatically generated HTML documentation of the railML ontology,
* the ttl (turtle) files with Tbox of ontology (schema),

Changes / fixes ontology 0.6 vs vs 0.65:
1. changed names of RTM classes so that naming corresponds to the one given in RTM model at [1] based on decision under [2]
2. extended ontology with classes added in RTM 1.5. (The extension with RTM 1.6 will follow during the publication phase of railML 3.4.)
3. annotated RTM classes with their presence in RTM 1.4 or 1.5 or both
4. replaced rdfs:range with Dublin core rangeIncludes per decision under [3]

Open issues as of version 0.65:
1. namespace of Dublin core to aligned with railML given under [4]
2. coverage of all entities of XSD (to be solved by tool railXMI2RDF announced at [5])
3. issues under [6]

The resulting ontology was used to generate changelog between RailTopoModel 1.4 and 1.5 published at [7] .

I would like to thank all the "early users" who contributed to the development process by giving feedbacks and by challenging the model against the requirements.

Last, but not least, I want to encourage everyone to join the ongoing development process [8, 9] and to provide feedback on the current railML ontology v0.65 in this forum thread or as a separate one.
