Dear all,

the electrification model in railML 3.2 is rather heterogeneous: there are aspects in Common (CO), Infrastructure (IS) and Rollingstock (RS) schema. A detailed analysis can be found in the Gitlab issue #511 [1].

With railML 3.3 we want to harmonize the electrification model. A possible solution is also described in [1]. In detail:
* Move TractionMode from CO to RS.
* Remove ElectrificationSystem as base for TractionMode and add an electrificationSystemRef.
* Add an attribute to ElectrificationSystem specifying the type of electrical interface between the infrastructure and rolling stock to replace IS:electrificationSection@contactLineType and parts of RS:engine/powerMode/@mode and RS:trainEngine/tractionMode/@mode.
* Deprecate IS:electrificationSection@contactLineType.
* Replace "electricOverheadLine" and "electricThirdRail" with one common value in TractionMode/@mode
* Should we add more properties to RS to match the requirements specified in IS, or is there no demand for this?
* Clean up subelements of IS:electrificationSection (see #512 [2])

Any further feedback on this from the community is highly appreciated.

Dear all,

modifications of the electrification model have been implemented with railML 3.3 as described in [1] and [2].

We would like to get your feedback:
Do you like the current model?
Are you missing elementary electrification related information?
Are there unclear elements or attributes?
Do you see a need for changes of the electrification model in railML 3.4 perspective?

Any kind of feedback is highly appreciated.

Dear all,

as there has been no (positive nor negative) feedback on this topic, I assume that the electrification model modified with railML 3.3 fits your requirements and applications and there is no need for further adaptations.
For details please see Gitlab issues #511 [1] and #512 [2].
