Hello,
for several track elements (track topology elements and track data
elements) it is more efficient to have group elements.
For this way it is possible to summarize attributes of the elements
in the group element. All attributes of the group are valid for
the single elements. For a single element it is possible
to overwrite the group element attributes.
E.g. for signals:
<signalGroup type="combined" function="blocking" dir="up">
<signal elemID="si1" pos="1000"/>
<signal elemID="si2" pos="2000" dir="down"/>
<signal elemID="si3" pos="3000"/>
<signal elemID="si4" pos="4000" function="exit"/>
</signalGroup>

Best regards,
Heidrun Jost
