Dear Community,

We noticed that the freightFacilities element [1], which appear in different places of the timetable model, has a maximum multiplicity of 1. Thus, it can not be repeated. And since the type of freight is described by an XML attribute, it is only possible to describe one single type of freight per context.

This may be reasonable in the context of vehicle parts [2]. But for commercial train sections [3] and the formation information [4] in operational trains, this means that it is hard to describe mixed freight trains. Setting freightType="other:mixed" would loose information about the actual freight.

Is there any reason for limitting the number of freightFacilities elements to one? Or a different way to represent the freight facilities of a mixed freight train? Otherwise, we would suggest to allow unlimited freightFacilities elements, at least for commercialTrainSection and formationInformation.

Best regards

David

Hi David, hi all,

we discussed this during our last timetable developers meeting and found it to be a good idea. We will try incorporating this in to the upcoming version 3.4 of railML. Thanks for the suggestion.

Best regards, Milan
