FAS BackOffice is the on-ground software solution that supplies Siemens Driver Advisory Systems with the necessary input data. Driver Advisory Systems (DAS) are on-board systems that give online advices to the train driver on how to drive most energy-efficient whilst adhering to the working timetable. The main purpose of the FAS BackOffice is to receive the infrastructure and timetable data from a third party, usually the operator. After conversion into the internal data base format it is validated and [nbsp]is transmitted automatically to all units of the vehicle fleet.

The modular architecture of the FAS BackOffice allows the use of several input formats. With the railML®-importer it can receive data from software products capable of outputting the necessary DAS data set into a railML^® file. There are some railML® extensions specific for the DAS use case.
