Launched in 1999, Süd•Thüringen•Bahn, as subsidiary of the Erfurter Bahn and the Hessische Landesbahn, is known as operating railway company. In 2001, the company started operating in the south of Thuringia. Now the STB comprises 37 diesel-vehicles (RegioShuttle RS1) and a staff of 150 employees . The railway yard is located in Meiningen.
