Launched in 1912, Erfurter Bahn was first known as an urban industrial railway. In 1998, the rail passenger services were added. On this basis, Erfurter Bahn GmbH grew very quickly. In 2013, the company and its subsidiary comprise a staff of 440, in addition to 97 Regio Shuttle (RS1), one ITINO (VT 201) and two locomotives (V100) used for railroad freight transport.
