The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency is a central government agency operating in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. In its role of transport infrastructure manager, FTIA is responsible for maintaining and developing the service level of roads, railways and waterways on traffic routes administrated by the central government. Through its operations, FTIA promotes the functioning of the transport network, automation, traffic safety, sustainable development as part of the transport system as a whole, and the operating prerequisites and balanced development of regions and trade and industry. FTIA operates with a customer-oriented approach, holding expertise at the core of its work. The agency takes a proactive, information-centred and risk-based approach to its operations. FTIA operates in all of Finland, unless otherwise provided in legislation.
