Czech Technical University in Prague (České vysoké učení technické v Praze – ČVUT) is a technical university founded in 1707. It is primarily focused on both education and research in the field of technical disciplines. It currently includes eight faculties and six institutes. As for cooperation with the railML.org consortium, it is provided by representatives of the Faculty of Transportation Sciences.
The Faculty of Transportation Sciences, founded in 1993, is one of the younger faculties of the Czech Technical University in Prague. The variety of bachelor and master study programmes at the faculty (that combine technological knowledge from design, engineering, operation, telematics, management and economics related to transport and telecommunication) is enriched by project-oriented study in smaller specialised groups of students and experts. Topics related to the railway domain are addressed by some of the workplaces of the following departments: Department of Transport Engineering and Transportation Planning (e.g. design and operation of transport structures, logistic processes and timetables) and Department of Transport Telematics (workplace of the Railway Laboratory focused on the development of railway-oriented ITS, supported by a model railway network and a driving simulator of a rail vehicle). In some of the projects solved at the Railway Laboratory workplace, students of the Faculty of Information Technology are also involved.
