How to become a railML.org partner

We are happy to welcome new partners at railML. For some fields a prior registration to railML is mandatory. More information about how to become a partner or how to register a programme with railML interface can be found in the following.

Register as a railML supporter or user

Please send us your companies details with an informal declaration of accession. Please make sure that it contains the following information:

  1. Short introduction about your company in English language (also in German, if available) that complies with the following formalities:
    • approximately 150 words per language
    • bold, italic and underlined accentuations are allowed
  2. Approved logotype of your company as vector file (SVG or EPS).
    (if you do not have vector formats, a PNG file with a minimum height of 512 px [not embedded in a Word file or PDF] would be helpful too)
  3. Contact person for railML.org at your company (name, telephone, e-mail address). Please also create an account at www.railml.org for this main contact person in order to enable a good communication and beneficial cooperation between your company and our governance / scheme coordinators. This contact person will be linked to your company details.
  4. A link to the website of the your company´s specific department dealing with railML
    (if possible in English language, otherwise in the national language of the partner; also in German, if available)
  5. The type of partner you are applying for (user or supporter)
  6. Your main area of business
    (Railway Undertaking or Infrastructure Manager / Software provider / Research Institution / Government or Local Transport Authority)
  7. Inform us about any software with railML interfaces developed or used by your company
    (if the programme is not registered at railML.org yet, please make sure to send us some details)

Register a railML compatible programme

Please send us the details of your programme with railML® capable interfaces. Please make sure that it contains the following information:

  1. Short introduction about the programme in English and German language that complies with the following formalities:
    • approximately 150 words per language
    • bold, italic and underlined accentuations are allowed
  2. Approved logotype of your company as vector file (SVG or EPS).
    (if you do not have vector formats, a PNG file with a minimum height of 512 px [not embedded in a Word file or PDF] would be helpful too)
    If your programme does not have a specific logo please refer to the companies logo instead.
  3. Specific contact person for railML.org at your company (name, telephone, e-mail address). Please also create an account at www.railml.org for this main contact person in order to enable a good communication and beneficial cooperation between your company and our governance / scheme coordinators. This contact person will be linked to the programme details.
  4. A link to the specific website of your application . If no specific website is available refer to your company´s website (in German and English language)
  5. The programme typ (crew planning, data conversion, passenger information, rolling stock rostering, simulation, train path construction, etc.)
  6. The licence (commercial, academic, internal, freeware)
  7. Type of the use cases supported by the programme, subschemes (Timetable, Infrastructure, Rolling stock, Interlocking) and scheme version (1.x, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.x) supported by import / export interface
  8. Inform us about any customers using your programme

General information

Your benefits:

Partners of railML.org receive - in accordance with our licensing conditions - the right to use the railML® schemas. An organization can further enhance its participation and become not just a supporting partner, but also a development partner. As a development partner, your organization can participate in the creation and further development of the railML® schemas by bringing your proposals and comments into the development process and approving final schema versions jointly with us.

Please note the following:

  • The submitter of the descriptions and logos must have the right of use and the right to transmit these documents to railML.org.
  • The submitted logos shall be unique and representative for the partner or programme.
  • The submitter of texts and logos exempts railML.org from any claims and titles of third parties.
  • The publication of the provided information will take approximately one to two weeks and needs the prior confirmation of our coordination team.
  • The submitters are in charge of updating the provided information regularly.
  • The creation of a login for railML.org on our website does not replace the registration of a company or programme.
  • railML.org is an open source community. If you help us to improve the railML standard with your information and knowlegde you accept with providing information that these information become free avaialable under the railML.org's licence terms to the community. Do not submit any confidential or IP protected information of your or another company.
  • In order to become a developer a high level of experience in creating railML® interfaces and affecting the development of the railML® standards is necessary. We insist in a long term partnership.
  • Each partner bears their expenses by themselves. Currently railML.org do not raise any membership fees.
