Hello everybody,

I'm really glad to see, Heidrun Jost also intends to redesign the
railML infrastructure schema.

I analysed GML 3.1.1 and believe that could be a good base for a future
version of railML (railGML?).

GML is based on the Geographic Information ISO standard series 19000
GML is well structured because of the existance of inheritance rules,
they can be adopted by the application schema
GML offers the "id"-attribute for each element, so the elements can
appear in any order within the file, also some mixture of geometric
and topological features are valid
GML offers a good extensibility

I developed a GML schema for railway infrastructure with some key elements
and types. I prepared a small example for demonstrating the usability
of "railGML 0.1".

I'm going to attend the next meeting in Zurich on 12th March, 2007.
I intend to present this approach for extension of railML infrastructure,
in order to open railML to new user groups and to satisfy current users.

I'm looking forward to meet you in Zurich.

Best regards,
