Hello,

as most of you know, I was chosen within the third RailML meeting in Zurich
to be responsible for the infrastructure schema. Until now, I only could
spend little time to do this job well, because I had to finisch my doctoral
thesis. Now I work as freelancer in railway consulting and railway
IT-development. Vasco Paul Krauss (Fraunhover IVI Dresden) puts me in charge
to lead the further development of the infrastructure schema for the next
weeks.
The following tasks represents the main focus of this job:
- design of the main schema structure
- develop the consistent modeling of track and connections
- moderate the discussion between the developers and users
- internal and external documentation of the schema:
-- annotattions in the schema (in English)
-- technical reference of all elements and attributes as HTML or Word
document (in English)
-- documentation of the whole concept and the main structure (in English and
German)

The focus for the first release of the schema will be the pure track.
Operation control systems and signaling logic will not be included in this
version. However, the position and some additional informations of signals,
balises etc. will be considered.

Since my last official schema suggestion (V0.94 Release 10 on September
24th) many proposals were developed and partially published in the
newsgroup. In the middle of november I had a meeting with Dirk Braeuer
(iRFP) in Dresden to lay down the main course of the development. The result
of the discussion is a new schema suggestion (perhaps V0.94 Release 15)
which will be published in the next days. I'll consider in this suggestion
some of your proposals which came up in the newsgroup in the last two weeks.
In this suggestion. the FOCUS will be the PURE TRACK. Maybe you'll miss some
of the less important elements and attributes. These will be considered in
the next releases. I plan to suggest a release candidat for the version 1.0
at the beginning of the next year.

With best regards

Ulrich Linder
