The focuses on research and teaching activities at the Institute for Transport Planning and Systems (IVT) are the planning and operation of transport systems and their adaptability to future requirement. For this purpose, the social and structural alterations have to be identified and described as well as the radical changes in global logistics. The performances of transport systems are related to the optimization of intelligent information and control systems. At the same time, the reliability and security must be increased; on the other hand, the negative effects on human health and the environment must be minimized.
