Cooperation

Alongside the scheme development with its partners railML.org cooperates with other organisations in the railway, traffic and standardisation sector.

Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer (UIC)

UIC logo

UIC is the largest railway association, which was founded in 1922 with the aim of standardising industry practices. Currently they have 195 members across five continents.

railML.org cooperates with UIC since early 2012. The main objective of this cooperation is the development of a new railway infrastructure model called RailTopoModel. In Spring 2016 RailTopoModel will become a new International Railway Standard of UIC. It will then be called "IRS 30100". For more information about RailTopoModel please visit the specific website.

railML.org organizes conferences collaboratively with UIC since 2013. The overall topic is railway infrastructure data management and organisation.

European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL)

Eurocontrol logo

The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) is an international organisation coordinating air traffic control in Europe. AIXM (Aeronautical Information Exchange Model) is a model initiated by EUROCONTROL which is based on XML. It enables the management and distribution of Aeronautical Information Services data in digital format and is comparable with railML in the aviation sector.

railML.org took part in the 2015 SWIM master class in Brussels to give information about the railML data exchange scheme and the data provided by the partners of railML.org (e.g. railway timetables for surface sectors of an air trip).

With this cooperation we hope to connect the work in the fields of aviation and rail transport by the collaborative usage of data.

European Railway Agency (ERA)

ERA logo

The central idea of the European Railway Agency (ERA) is to offer the EU Member States and the Commission a technical assistance in the fields of railway safety and interoperability. Practically that implies the development and implementation of Technical Specifications for Interoperability and a mutual approach to questions concerning railway safety. ERA's main task is to manage the preparation of these measures.

railML.org cooperates with ERA in the RINF project.
